July 31--ALBANY -- Indie rock stalwarts Five Eight are returning to Albany this weekend to join local band Blastov for a concert at the downtown Art Park.
The concert, billed as an all-ages show, is scheduled for Saturday and is being presented by Threeforty: A Creative Group and Bud Light as part of the Big Pine Festival Tour.
Five Eight have a long-running relationship with Albany, having played numerous times in the Good Life City since rising to prominence as part of the early '90s Athens music scene.
The band has also had a long relationship with Blastov bassist Chris Hayes, who has promoted gigs for the band in Albany over the years.
"The guys in Five Eight are great, and we've been friends for a long time," Hayes said. "Any time we're fortunate to have them in Albany, it's a good thing. Blastov is totally stoked to get to open for them again when they play the Art Park. It's going to rock."
Saturday's show is set to start at 7 p.m. with an unannounced special guest, followed by Blastov at 8:30 p.m. and Five Eight taking over at 9:30.
Admission to the show is $5, and although alcohol will be available for sale to those with ID, organizers are stressing that they welcome music fans of all ages.
