Union of Arab Banks to hold conference on SMEs

A special banking forum is being held in Beirut, Lebanon, on 21-23 August entitled Small & Medium Enterprises:  The road to Economic Development and Social Justice.

The forum will be under the patronage of HE Dr. Alain Hakim, the Lebanese Minister of Economy and Trade, the Union of Arab Banks, in cooperation with the Central Bank of Lebanon, the General Union of Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture for Arab Countries, the World Union of Arab Bankers, the Investment Development Authority of Lebanon -(IDAL), and the Arab Union for Small Enterprises-Egypt.

The Union of Arab Banks will highlight the significant role that SMEs is playing in the achievement of economic and social development especially in countries witnessing economic challenges resulting from political and social transitions. Panels in the forum will also tackle the effect of SMEs in the Arab world and the role of the banking sector, Islamic finance and regional and International organisations in supporting SMEs and reducing unemployment.
