McPherson was appointed to the position
"It's just been a large learning curve that will continue for some time," McPherson said. "If you're not learning every day, where's the enjoyment in that? To be honest, I followed a great person. Janice had us going in the right direction. Working one year under her helped me get ready for this job."
Prior to being employed by the
McPherson said, with
"It can either get to you or you take it in stride," he said. "It is a challenge because this is my hometown. Things get to you when you're invested. You know how they feel. It's a lot to cover. I appreciate and welcome people to voice their concerns."
Through his position as community service coordinator, McPherson began working on moving the location of the
Another project under McPherson's lead is the relocation of
"We're getting really close," McPherson said about the library project. "It moves slowly here at the end because I want to address issues before we open. We've got engineers coming to test out the pieces, and we'll do a final walk through next week.
"When school starts, we should be in there. It hasn't been ideal. By the time we open, we'll probably forget all about the growing pains."
His position as city administrator handles the day-to-day business of the
McPherson said a lot has taken place in his first year as city administrator.
"It has been interesting to say the least," McPherson said. "So much has happened, I'm not really a rookie anymore."
