BRIEF: Sunrise not planning to increase tax rate or fire fee

July 10--SUNRISE -- Residents won't see an increase in their tax rate or fire fee in the upcoming fiscal year.

On Tuesday, commissioners approved a plan to keep the city's tax rate at $605 per $100,000 of assessed value for the fiscal year beginning Oct. 1.

The fire fee will remain at $169.50.

More details will become available when City Manager Alan Cohen presents the budget during a workshop at 5 p.m.Aug. 26.

Commissioners plan to hold their first budget hearing at 5:05 p.m.Sept. 12.

A second hearing will be held later in September.
