Westcon appoints F5 channel manager

Rory Vorster has been appointed as the new F5 channel manager for Westcon Security Solutions.

The company says Vorster brings with him seven years of experience in the IT industry, with extensive knowledge of account management, IT client service consulting and IT management, and has provided technical IT support from a senior perspective to a large and diverse client base.

Vorster will be responsible for maintaining vendor relationships, inventory management, brand planning, price modelling, co-ordinating various brand related activities, product sales training, finalising promotions and sales of assigned products.

"I am extremely excited to be appointed channel manager for F5 at Westcon Southern Africa. This allows me to leverage off my extensive technical background and sales expertise to grow the F5 brand through the partners and therefore grow the channel's revenue," says Vorster.

He says, with the new appointment, he looks forward to the challenges of understanding and identifying the greater majority of the biggest players in the security solutions market as well as growing the F5 brand within Westcon Southern Africa.

He notes that trending will be key to understanding what areas of the portfolio need attention, while outlining areas where he can really focus on getting to a deeper and wider market penetration.

"F5 is currently the leading vendor of application delivery controllers in terms of the Gartner Magic Quadrant 2014," he says.

"As such, driving awareness of F5 into Westcon's partner base with solid and targeted marketing alongside the ability to support and enable them to identify the technologies and solutions that fit their own customers' needs. I hope to take the F5 portfolio right to the top of the pile of channel offerings within Westcon SA," notes Vorster.

Vorster believes the focus on education and Westcon Southern Africa's ability to provide training and certification on both the sales and technical areas of F5 will enable Westcon partners to further their success in selling F5 solutions into large enterprises and government.

If Westcon partners are educated, fluent and confident in F5, the product does well and the entire business chain benefits, says Vorster.

According to Andrew Potgieter, security solutions director at Westcon, Vorster's rich experience in IT client services, client account management and scouting of new business opportunities give him the edge to not only give sound IT security advice but also to make sales and recognise business opportunities for F5.

"We are happy to welcome him to the team and look forward to seeing him grow and succeed at Westcon," concludes Potgieter.
