But perhaps an as-yet-unsung feather for the G3's cap, and one at the core of the phone's design and user interface, is its disarming design simplicity. Wisely integrating consumer feedback from its G-series predecessors, LG has not just upped the innovation ante, it has also worked hard to create one seriously eye-catching smartphone.
LOOKS AREN'T EVERYTHING...
Every phone should compel you to scoop it up and nestle it in your palm. The G3 does that and then some with its sleek and modern design. The rear cover boasts a very classy matte overlay on a metallic-looking skin, which means no dirty smudges or fingerprint marks. If you're the type who likes pushing buttons, you will also get a kick out of the newly optimised height and angle of the power key and volume buttons.
NICE LINES THAT FEEL GOOD
When it comes to ergonomics, the human hand appreciates nice curves and the G3 has them in all the right places. After countless tests and user feedback, LG has arrived at a design it believes works best for this large-screen smartphone. Meanwhile, its signature Floating Arc design, with its smooth arc and slim-side bezel, offers a more comfortable grip. You won't just like holding the phone, you won't want to put it down.
If you know your phones, you may also recall LG's signature Rear Key, which debuted on the G2 last year. If so, then you'll be happy to learn it has also been given an update to produce a smoother, more intuitive feel.
The G3 is beautiful in the inside too. Along with the slick exterior, LG has overhauled the design of its user interface. Taking LG's mantra of 'Simple is the new Smart' to heart, graphics-wise, the G3 is clean. It embraces a clutter-free, minimalist approach - classic colours, elegant typefaces, simple, flat-style graphics, which all means you can concentrate on the stuff that matters -like content.
RAMPING UP THE USER EXPERIENCE (UX)
When it comes to optimised UX, the G3 takes it up a level offering three intelligent and highly intuitive new software perks: Smart Keyboard,
Are you fumble-thumbed? Do you often feel chastised by AutoCorrect? Well, then you'll be thrilled with the new Smart Keyboard feature - the G3 keyboard comes with a function that allows you to 'stretch' the keyboard height to your personal optimal level, while adaptive technology lets you type quicker and easier. The G3 actually 'learns' if you're a clunky typist - the inbuilt technology analyses your tracking habits so it instinctively knows what you're trying to type, thereby helping to reduce errors.
If mobile phone privacy matters to you, then you should know that the G3 is very secure. While the Knock OnTM mode allows you to turn your phone screen on and off with just a quick double-tap on the screen, the Knock Code lends added security and convenience by letting you set a unique unlock pattern with a sequence of taps anywhere on the screen. From three to eight taps, your 'knock' becomes individually personalised.
At the same time, GuestMode allows your mates, kids or significant other to pick up your G3 and fiddle with it longingly without you worrying that they'll access anything you don't want them to see.
