City Website Design and Replacement

Tenders are invited for City Website Design and Replacement. Specific Project Goals and Objectives The primary goal of this project is to replace the current website with a new and improved website, along with an updated Content Management System. The new website will be easier for users to navigate, more efficient for City staff to manage, and provide a wide variety of services to Largo residents, businesses and visitors. The Vendor will provide the City with an information ready, turn-key website that City staff can immediately begin to migrate information into. Project Goals 1. Redesign the website with a new look and feel. 2. Make compatible and easy to view on mobile devices. 3. Improve the tools that support updating the website, i.e.; content management system (CMS). 4. Improve the information architecture that supports easy navigation of the site to key City services, encouraging citizens to return. 5. Make content publishing fast and simple. 6. Expand the services the City offers to citizens on the website. 7. Enable updating the look and feel of the website on an as-needed basis. Project Objectives 1. Implement electronic workflow for all proposed web postings for approval and promotion. 2. Update and implement website technology management policy and best practices a. Identify and formalize content contributors from each department who will ensure that all content is accurate and up to date. b. Identify and formalize use of web social networking tools. c. Identify and formalize acceptable website content and links to outside resources. 3. Provide for full integration with existing e-government applications currently in use and provide for easy integration with future e-government applications. Scope of Work Vendors replying to this RFI are asked to provide information relative to five (5) main areas for the City s consideration of their services: 1. Description of design services offered. 2. Examples of previous designs. 3. Proposed content management system (CMS) software features and functions. 4. Available hosting options. 5. Options for training. 4. Specific Required Features The City of Largo is seeking vendors with a CMS software solution that provides features such as, but not limited to: Dynamic content that is easy to update Current best practices for simple and easy navigation Effective search engine Events calendar Service request system Citizen engagement portal Image gallery Workflow system with approval process for publishing Secure and user-friendly e-commerce Responsive or mobile-friendly design 5. Summary In conclusion, the goal of this RFI is to gather public information from government website CMS vendors about their product. As stated earlier, information gathered from responses to this RFI will be used to publish a Request for Proposal (RFP) during FY 2015 for provision of these services.
