Cameroon : CAMTEL inks agreement with MTN CAMEROON

Cameroon Telecommunications (Camtel) has announced the signing of a 10-year agreement with mobile operator MTN Cameroon for the delivery of dark fibre capacity on Camtels' national fibre optic backbone.

According to Camtel general manager David Nkoto Emane, sharing a common transmission infrastrucure will minimize running costs and prices.

Camtel has entered into a same agreement with Cameroon's third mobile operator, Viettel that is set to introduce service soon.

Nkoto Emane stated that the operator also hopes to ink a network capacity agreement with mobile operator Orange Cameroon in the coming days and another with broadcaster CRTV within the framework of the switch from analogue to digital TV. It is scheduled for 15 July 2015.
