Best of degree show opens at Showcase

July 8, 2014

Members of the public will have a second chance to see some of finest work from graduating students studying on Southampton Solent’s creative courses at the University’s Showcase gallery this summer. The exhibition is entitled ‘Happy Sad’, to reflect some of the themes of the work and to celebrate the students’ time at the University. All the pieces have already featured in the BA (Hons) Degree shows for 2014 and include work from fine artists, photographers, illustrators, graphic artists and fashion students from a variety of disciplines. Kate Maple, Curator of Solent Showcase, says: “It has been difficult to choose from all the fantastic work on display at this year’s degree shows but I am really pleased with the final selection. “I think the public will get a flavour of the breadth, variety and skill shown by the students. The work is truly breathtaking and wouldn’t be out of place in any London gallery,” she continues. The student artists being exhibited are: Kristin Rian, Emily Amesbury, Luke Baker Giovanna Balivo, Nik Birkemeyer, David Cantrill, Craig Coull, Sophia Foot, Louis Goddard, Oliver Hall, Thomas Storm Hansen, Amber Henry, David Jones, Alison Lashly, Amanda Leslau, Jody McCreery, Denis Haskell, Mills Rebecca Needham, Laura Punt, Jade Phillips, Selina Quach, Sophie Reynard, Ashleigh Prime, Lizzie Robinson, Elizabeth Sherwin, Emma Simpson, Jack Snelgar, Ro Waszkiewicz and Grace Williams.
