Alcoa kicks off US earnings round

? Alcoa kicked off US corporate earnings season on a positive note last night, sending its shares up two per cent after-hours. The aluminium producer reported quarterly profit and revenue that beat forecasts as it focused on selling products from its more profitable downstream business, which includes truck wheels and aircraft fuselages. While Alcoa is no longer a component of the Dow Jones Industrial Average, its results traditionally herald the start of earnings season.
