UK Film Maker Launches Crowdfunding Campaign To Fund Exciting New Film-Making Tutorials

July 7, 2014

A passionate UK company is making waves in the filmmaking industry with the launch of a £12,000 Indigogo campaign to raise funds for a series of online video tutorials for aspiring media students. Launched by George Kingsnorth, the innovative YouTree.TV ( -techniques#home) videos will be uploaded onto the Udemy online learning platform and offer a range of production techniques designed for use on everyday technology such as mobile phones and home computers.

As a former video production lecturer at the University of Central England, Kingsnorth is a firm believer in the effectiveness of video tutorials and has seen first-hand the benefits of the engaging form of learning.

Kingsnorth says “Video tutorials allow students to learn what they want, when they want. As a teacher, I would produce videos wherever possible as it was an ideal platform to allow students to learn how to use software at their own pace. However the problem I found with many online video tutorials was that they were not produced by experienced video professionals or educationalists.”

The Indiegogo campaign offers a custom built solution to the issue, designed to provide teachers and students with a comprehensive library of expert online video tutorials covering a wide range of topics.

Scheduled to roll out in two phases, the initial campaign will fund the development of the first 17 of 72 unique video tutorials. Initial topics include the basic principles of video production, teaching students how to maximise the simple editing tools found on everyday devices such as smartphones and compact cameras, developing ideas, using shooting techniques to build a story, transferring movies clips from camera to computer, editing techniques on both Mac and PC and uploading content onto the Internet.

Through the development of the online videos, Kingsnorth hopes to share his expertise, provide opportunities for local filmmakers to get involved in the project, build a community of filmmaking buffs and help enthusiastic young media students share their stories.

Kingsnorth says “I have always enjoyed film-making but by sharing what I have learned with others and encouraging them to work with me on projects has been more rewarding. Your contribution will allow me to work with others to produce these tutorials and make them more relevant to the needs of my target audience, enthusiastic film-makings with limited tools but grate stories to tell.”

Depending on financial contribution, backers will enjoy a range of different perks, from a personal email thank you and a 75% discount on Udemy courses, to complete free YouTree.TV access and personalised Skype training sessions.

Those who can’t make a financial contribution can still be a part of the buzz, Kingsnorth encouraging supporters to share the Indiegogo social media share tools, make suggestions as to future film making topics and spread the YouTree.TV word in any way they can.
