BRIEF: Twist Martini coming to Virginia Beach Town Center

July 7, 2014

July 08--A new restaurant that's part martini bar, part music venue and part cigar lounge plans to open in September at the foot of The Westin Virginia Beach Town Center hotel, according to the leasing agent for the property.

Twist Martini will move into the space previously occupied by Havana Nights, a restaurant and cigar bar. The owners of Havana Nights restructured their company and tweaked the concept to focus on food and combine the other elements into one open space, rather than separate rooms, said Gerald Divaris, chairman and CEO of Divaris Real Estate.

Twist Martini & Associates hired Kendall Davies to manage the restaurant. Davies is now a local restaurant and entertainment consultant who once ran The Beach House, a nightclub near the Oceanfront that was shut down by its landlord in 2006 because of fights, gunfire and noise at the venue.

Divaris said he was aware of that history but was unconcerned about Davies' involvement in a Town Center establishment, expecting that the owners will oversee the operation.
