Tokyo stocks almost flat in morning amid lack of trading cues

July 6, 2014

Tokyo stocks ended almost flat in a choppy Monday morning session that reflected a lack of major market-moving incentives.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average shed 7.21 points, or 0.05 percent, from Friday to 15,429.92. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was down 1.97 points, or 0.15 percent, to 1,283.27.

Major decliners included mining, chemical and pharmaceutical shares, while the air transport and insurance sectors gained ground.
