Pivotal Reports Version 1.0 of Spring IO

July 7, 2014

Pivotal has released Version 1.0 of Spring IO.

According to a release from the company, Spring IO brings together the core Spring APIs into a single, cohesive and versioned foundation for modern applications to help Java developers innovate and develop applications faster.

Spring IO supports any modern enterprise Java workload - mobile, web apps, integration, web services, batch, relational, noSQL, reactive and big data applications, as well as APIs and micro services.

Spring IO said Version 1.0 creates a significantly easier way for enterprises to consume Spring, particularly in projects where multiple Spring IO components are used.

"To ensure high software quality and a great developer experience, we've run extensive tests to harmonize 36 Spring projects, and 436 third-party dependencies on both Java 7 and 8, to ensure software quality and portability," said Hugh Williams, senior vice president of research and development, Pivotal. "Now application teams have the development flexibility of using a modular, portable application framework requiring only Java SE, at a greatly reduced expense in testing, and with the ability to upgrade at predictable six month intervals."

Pivotal is a provider of application and data infrastructure software, agile development services, and data science consulting.
