July 04--WATERLOO -- A volunteer home repair program is looking to step it up.

From the Heart: Waterloo Home Enhancement Project is searching for residents willing to loan their ladders to the effort scheduled for July 13-19.

The organization needs more than 100 ladders in good working condition. Those wishing to help are asked to call the "Ladder Line" at 292-1858 and leave a voice mail.

From the Heart brings hundreds of youth volunteers from across the county to help low-income, elderly and disabled residents fix up their homes. Local officials work with Group Workcamps Inc. of Loveland, Colo., on the program. Waterloo City Council Quentin Hart organized the program locally.

About 225 homes were repaired through the program during the week-long summer visits from 2007 through 2010 and again in 2012.
