July 31, 2014

Award-winning photographers Marta Kochanek and Barbara Gibson have merged their businesses and pooled their talents to found the Gibson Kochanek Studio in Birmingham’s historic Jewellery Quarter.

Marta and Barbara have built a strong reputation in the world of photography and become specialists in their respective fields. Crucially, throughout their professional lives these two talented women have developed a strong relationship with their clients.  Having made the decision to become business partners the level of service will be further enhanced as they bring a rich mix of experience into their new venture.

Clients will be impressed by the professional and confidential service on offer in Britain’s second city, particular with Barbara and Marta’s ability to capture images in the subject’s daily environment, or in the studio, in a manner which is efficient yet sensitive.

Marta is renowned as a Portrait Photographer whose career has seen her work closely with Annie Leibovitz organizing the American portrait photographer’s archive and also assisting on sets including shoots for Vogue and Vanity Fair. Marta’s work has also been displayed in galleries around the world and in leading publication such as The Times. Two years ago she was invited to join the Daegu Biennial in South Korea.

Crowning Marta’s success in the photographic world is her receiving honourable mentions in photographic competitions both home and abroad, including the Px3 Prix de la Photographie Paris, International Aperture Awards, International Photography Awards, as well as Art Kudos.

Barbara Gibson’s professional renown lies in her work as a Photographer and Photo-Researcher and whose speciality is Urban Photography. She is fascinated by countries and cultures across the world and seeks to capture images with a deep empathy.

Barbara also curates photography exhibitions and exhibited her work around the world. Her talents are internationally recognised and she was a finalist in the Bursa Photo fest in 2012. Last year Barbara was awarded an Art’s Grant to develop research and a photography project.

By combining their talents, Marta and Barbara have brought a fresh, new and exciting photography studio to Birmingham and the West Midlands.
