Collaborative support and integrated technology cited for the switch

SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- CUSO Financial Services, L.P. (CFS), a full-service broker dealer and SEC Registered Investment Adviser that provides customized investment and insurance solutions to credit unions, announces South Carolina Federal Credit Union (South Carolina Federal) has chosen CFS as its new broker dealer to help grow its managed investment program and expand technological offerings for its more than 150,000 members. The South Carolina Federal management team selected CFS because of its expertise in serving credit unions, its sophisticated and integrated technology systems, and its overall dedication to investment program growth built on collaboration and proven best practices.

South Carolina Federal is a community-chartered credit union headquartered in North Charleston. Founded in 1936, it is the oldest locally owned and managed financial institution in the tri-county area, with more than $1.3 billion in assets and 14 branches and ATMs throughout Charleston, Columbia and Georgetown, South Carolina. The credit union’s investment program, South Carolina Federal Investment Solutions™, will operate under a managed model in which CFS employs and manages the program managers and investment advisors. Executives chose to switch broker dealers for the 18 year-old investment program to gain better integrated technology and a partner with proven experience in growing and enhancing investment programs within credit unions.

“When reviewing broker dealers, it was important for us to partner with a collaborative firm that would seamlessly enhance our in-house investment services,” said Bonnie Ciuffo, South Carolina Federal investment program director. “We have already seen positive growth since beginning our relationship with CFS and we’ve quickly adopted several of their technology tools to enhance our offering to our members. The new mobile app that allows clients to send secure documents to their investment representative via their mobile phones has been especially well-received. This new partnership will help us achieve the goals we have set for our program.”

The CFS investment program is led by program managers Mark Curtis and Phillip Kolb, along with three investment advisors, three sales assistants, three licensed branch employees and a CFS regional program development manager.
