L2 Consulting Services Secures CAAC Validation of Supplemental Type Certificate for Iridium Communications System on Aircraft

L2 Consulting Services reported that the Company has received a Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) Validation Supplemental Type Certificate (VSTC0657) for the installation of the Iridium Satellite Communications System on 737-700/-800 aircraft.

According to a release from the Company, the original Federal Aviation Administration Supplemental Type Certificate (ST10928SC) was certified by L2 for both the ICG NxtLink ICS-220A and Rockwell Collins IRT-2120 Iridium Satcom systems.

L2 Vice President of Operations, Dean Rudolph said, "We are delighted to have received the CAAC validation of our STC and are now able to offer our customers in China a fully certified Iridium Communications solution on the B737NG series aircraft."

The NxtLink ICS-220A and IRT-2120 devices are a communications system that provides the Flight Crew with a dedicated Data Link channel to support; Aircraft Communications and Reporting System (ACARS), FANs messaging, Controller - Pilot Data Link Communications (CPDLC) and an exclusive global voice channel. L2 developed all of the engineering and managed the entire STC regulatory process with the European Aviation Safety Agency. L2 also holds existing Iridium certifications on B747, B757, and B767 aircraft.
