Huawei, Lenovo Challenge Samsung in Smart Phone Market

BEIJING, July 30, SinoCast -- IDC revealed that Huawei and Lenovo have snatched smart phone market share from Samsung. In the second quarter of 2014, global smart phone shipment reached 295.3 million, rising 23.1% from 240 million a year earlier.

Meanwhile, the figure hiked 95.1% to 20.3 million for Huawei and 38.7% to 15.8 million for Lenovo while narrowed 3.9% to Samsung, notably.

Huawei has become the third biggest global smart phone maker in the reporting period, with market share climbing from 4.3% to 6.9%, further catching up with Samsung and Apple. Meanwhile, market share for Samsung declined from 32% a year ago to 25% while inched up 1% to 13% for Apple.
