SENER participates in Farnborough 2014

July 3, 2014

ENP Newswire - 03 July 2014

Release date- 02072014 - For the first time, the SENER Engineering and Technology Group is taking part in the Farnborough Airshow, one of the largest aerospace sector fairs in the world, held in the town of the same name, Farnborough, from July 14 to 20.

During this event, SENER will present its global capabilities as a supplier of equipment, system integration and engineering services in the markets of space, defense, and aeronautics and vehicles, and an important focus point will be its electromechanical actuation and control systems.

As such, among the projects presented at the fair will be various actuators with applications in space, aeronautics and defense, featuring a rotary actuator, which is part of a wide range of rotary positioning systems specifically designed for space applications. These represent evolutionary progress coming from SENER's experience in this field. Currently, missions such as Sentinel-1, Sentinel-2 and Gaia all use SENER actuators.

This can also be seen in the Gaia satellite's M2M alignment device, developed by SENER. Another actuator featured in the presentation is one developed by Turbomeca and used in helicopter motors. Furthermore, a FAS (Fin Actuation Subsystem) model will be exhibited that is a subsystem of the METEOR Defense program, for which SENER is in charge of design finalization, development and mass production.

The FAS is the subsystem responsible for the controlled movements of the missile's fins, which guide it on the required trajectory. All of these are examples of the extensive catalog of actuators developed by SENER, which visitors will be able to learn about in a brochure to be distributed at the stand.

In addition, results from other contracts will be displayed: in space, the deployable sunshield used by the above-mentioned Gaia satellite and the Proba-3 mission; in Defense, the actuator subsystems for the Taurus KEPD350 and IRIS-T AA missile programs and in Aeronautics, the modernization program of the Agusta Bell 212 (AB212) helicopters for the Spanish Navy, extending their operational life by at least 15 years, as well as the turnkey production and assembly lines of aerostructures.

With almost 50 years of experience in the aerospace sector, the company is internationally renowned and is a prime contractor for complete systems both in Space - where it has supplied more than 250 devices and systems successfully used on board the satellites and space vehicles of agencies from the US (NASA), Europe (ESA), Japan (JAXA) and Russia (Roscomos) - and in Aeronautics, where it is turnkey supplier for production cells, as well as being an expert in aircraft modernization and in the automation of structural assembly and component production processes.

In like manner, in Defense SENER carries out the production of complete series in actuation and control systems for missiles, developing Guidance, Navigation and Control (GNC) systems and optical systems for ISR-related technology, and guarantees the maintenance for the entire useful life of the product.
