Italy : TELECOM ITALIA declares launch of 4G service in ARZACHENA

Telecom Italia declared that its mobile unit TIM has introduced the 4G service in the town of Arzachena on the north of Sardinia.

Users can access to 4G data transmission at speeds of up to 100 Mbps download and 50 Mbps upload by virtue of the activation of 13 LTE base stations including around 97 percent of the population.

Now, TIM's 4G service consist of 745 Italian localities (16 in Sardinia), equivalent to more than 53 percent of the population nationwide, a figure Telecom Italia aims to raise to 80 percent by the end of 2016.

According to the company, it would be bolstering 4G deployment in the second half of the year to assure that all towns with more than 35,000 citizens are covered by the end of 2014.
