BRIEF: New Haven parks concert series begins Thursday

July 30--NEW HAVEN -- There's no shortage of outdoor music concerts in the summer and a city-backed Thursday evening series will add to the choices starting this week -- at four different parks.

Goffe Street Park will host the group Organic Soul t from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, with its music described as "old and new school, R&B and funk."

On Aug. 7, Roberto Clemente Field, 360 Columbus Ave., will be the site of New Orleans-style brass band Kings of Harmony (same early evening time).

Aug. 14 will bring the folk-pop act Prester John to Fairmont Park, 81 Clifton St.

And Aug. 21, the series concludes with Ricky Draughn, who does old and new school hip-hop and R&B, at Scantlebury Park, 182 Ashmun St.

The concerts are presented by the city Department of Arts, Culture and Tourism and the Department of Parks, Recreation and Trees.
