Tajikistan to continue financing Rogun HPP's construction

Financing of the Rogun HPP's construction will be continued from the state budget and issuance of shares of the plant, First Deputy Minister of Finance of Tajikistan Dzhamoliddin Nuraliyev told a press conference in Dushanbe.

"This year, the state budget allocated 1.34 billion somoni ($270 million); 30% of the amount were spent on restoration works. Financing will be implemented in line with the schedule of the World Bank," he said.

The total amount of funds raised through the sale of shares and certificates comprised 839 million somoni ($170 million). 47% of the amount were spent on the equipment purchase.

Rogun HPP is located 110 kilometers east of Dushanbe. Its design capacity makes 3.6 thousand MW. The projected dam height is 335 meters, reservoir's capacity 13.3 billion cubic meters. Annual electricity production after startup of the first stage with two 400 MW units is expected to make 4 billion kWh.
