July 24--A young boy was flown to an Orlando hospital on Thursday after a near-drowning at a theme-park-area resort, Orange County Fire Rescue said.

Rescuers were called to the Liki Tiki Village near Winter Garden about 1:30 p.m. Thursday.

According to the Orange County Sheriff's Office, the 3-year-old had been swimming in the pool when he was found unresponsive by another hotel guest.

"CPR was performed and the child was able to breathe on his own," sheriff's spokeswoman Lourdes Clayton said in an email. "The child was transported to the hospital for precautionary measures. Investigation is ongoing."

The child was flown by helicopter to Orlando Regional Medical Center, a Fire Rescue spokesman said. The boy's name has not been released and his condition was not available.

Thursday's incident comes less than two weeks after a girl was found dead in a room at the resort, which is off U.S. Highway 192, about 7 miles west of Walt Disney World.

The 9-month-old, Demareona Clay of Louisiana, had come to Central Florida with her grandmother for a family reunion.

Deputies said at the time the girl's death did not seem suspicious and was likely accidental.
