BlackBerry, maker of Blackberry smartphones has come up with new strategies that will enable it bounce back into profitability in the smartphone market.

The company plans to get its unique smartphones back to profitability in 2016, beginning with the launch of Blackberry Z3, which was introduced into the Nigerian market last week.

Territory Director, East, West, Central & Southern Africa, Mr. Charles Asinugo, who disclosed the launch-back strategy, explained that it would help the brand to regain lost market share and begin to enjoy profitability by 2016.

A lot of restructuring has been going on in the areas of device security and enterprise solutions that will further strengthen the brand and streamline its market force, Asinugo said, adding that its new partnership and acquisition deals will further bounce back the BlackBerry brand in Nigeria.

The introduction the new BlackBerry Z3 smartphone in Nigeria, is a step forward to showcase what Blackberry phones are made up of. The device is expected to retail through authorised partners at the recommended price of N39,000, he said.

According to him, "Consumers who purchase a BlackBerry Z3 smartphone this month, can also benefit from an exclusive app offer. They simply have to login into the BlackBerry World storefront from their BlackBerry Z3 smartphone and download a selection of paid apps worth N8,000 for free."

The BlackBerry Z3 extends the BlackBerry10 platform to a new generation of customers in Nigeria at an attractive price point and offers them more ways to securely communicate, collaborate and be productive with an experience built on reliable, secure communications.

Explaining some of its features, Asinugo said the BlackBerry Z3 features a stylish design with a 5" touch display, an unrivalled messaging and typing experience, exceptional battery life, and comes with equipped BlackBerry 10 OS version 10.2.1 and is Android app compatible.

It has other key features like the ever present BlackBerry Hub, which allows customers access all work and personal email, BBM, text messages, social media updates and notifications in one place, with the ability to "peek" into the BlackBerry Hub from anywhere.

The hub can be customized to identify priority messages and to filter the message list by various criteria that can then be activated with a simple pinch gesture.

The BBM on the BlackBerry Z3 includes all the latest features of the popular mobile social network. It has BBM voice and video chatting with screen share and support for BlackBerry natural sound, letting customers hear variations in tone in a BBM voice chat, and making the conversation sound natural.

"The BlackBerry keyboard learns what words you use and how you use them, then offers them up to you so you can type faster and more accurately. It gives you the best typing experience on a touchscreen, complete with multi-language support that lets you type in up to three different languages at the same time," Asinugo said.

The phone has astonishing time shift camera that allows customers capture a group shot where everyone is smiling with their eyes wide open. The BlackBerry 10 browser sets the industry benchmark for HTML5 performance on smartphones, and is incredibly fast, with fluid and responsive scrolling and zooming.

The smartphone also has a built-in FM radio, offering local FM stations, which does not require any network connection. Through BlackBerry World, customers can access applications that leverage the powerful features of the BlackBerry 10 operating system.
