July 24--The Young Actors Guild will perform Maurice Sendak's musical, "Really Rosie," at 7 p.m. today through Saturday and at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Arkansas Best Corporation Performing Arts Center, 55 S. Seventh St.

A collaboration with the Fort Smith Public Library, "Really Rosie" follows Rosie, who has been called the saddest child in the neighborhood in Brooklyn's Avenue. In her mind, Rosie directs and stars in an Academy Award-winning movie.

Maurice Sendak, who is the author and illustrator of "Where the Wild Things Are" and other well-known children's books, won the Caldecott Medal, the National Book Award and a National Medal of the Arts. Featruing more than 30 area youth, the family friendly production features music by songwriter-singer Carole King and lyrics by Sendak. Songs include "One Was Johnny," "Chicken Soup with Rice," "Alligators All Around" and "Pierre."

Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at www.yagonline.org and www.eventbrite.com.

YAG members and library officials will co-host a "Library at the Theatre" event Friday night, which allows patrons to get a library card in the lobby prior to the performance. "Library at the Theatre" also will include a dress-up booth, red carpet and an imagination wall.
