COA Art Figures to Discuss Inspiration of Nature

BAR HARBOR, Maine, July 22 -- College of the Atlantic issued the following news release:

Jennifer Judd-McGee and gallery owner Cody van Heerden will discuss Judd-McGee's "Rows & Rows: Community, Pattern, and Landscape" during a presentation Monday on the campus of College of the Atlantic.

Judd-McGee, an internationally recognized mixed-media artist and 1992 COA alumna who lives in Northeast Harbor, will discuss her processes, career, inspiration from the natural world, and the idea of community in a talk with COA trustee and art gallery owner Cody van Heerden.

The program is 5 p.m. Monday, July 28 at the Thomas S. Gates Jr. Community Center. Van Heerden is co-owner of Artemis Gallery in Northeast Harbor.

"Rows & Rows," an installation which features paper cuttings, wood cuttings, and large cloth laser-cut flags is on display at COA's Ethel H. Blum Gallery through Sept. 12. The gallery is open Tuesday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Also as part of the installation, Judd-McGee will offer a hands-on collage and assemblage workshop for all ages using found and recycled materials. The interactive Art Lab will be Wednesday, Aug. 15, 4 to 6 p.m. in the Blum Gallery.
