Italy : TELECOM ITALIA expands high speed FTTC network to SIENA

Telecom Italia has expanded its high-speed fibre-optic broadband network to Siena.

Presently, the service is offered in many parts of the city, and it is to be expanded to 18,000 households by the end of 2014.

The operator plans installation of around 41 km of cables for connecting over 80 street cabinets.

By 2015, Telecom Italia aims at connecting 70 percent of the local population to its FTTC network, offering customers with internet connections at speeds of up to 100 Mbps.

The operator's fibre optic services are currently being offering at the promotional rates of EUR 29 per month for consumers and EUR 35 for business for the first 6 and 12 months respectively.
