The company shipped 92,217 motorcycles to dealers and distributors around the world during the quarter, up 9 percent from 84,806 in the year-ago quarter.
But sales for the quarter were flat, including in the U.S., where Harley sold 58,225 motorcycles compared with 58,241 in second quarter 2013. Harley said it now forecasts it will ship 270,000 to 275,000 motorcycles for all of 2014. That would be up 3.5 percent to 5.5 percent from 2013. The company had earlier forecast it would ship between 279,000 and 284,000 motorcycles.
