July 03--NEW HAVEN -- City residents will now be able to pay their real estate and motor vehicle taxes online, according to a press release by the city.
The online system, which is offered by the city through a partnership with Webster Bank, is available to residents immediately. According to the release, the process will allow the city to maintain tax records more efficiently while making it convenient for taxpayers. Previously, residents would need to pay these taxes in person or through the mail.
Alder Jeanette Morrison said in a statement that the system, "promises to lessen burdens on taxpayers and city offices."
According to the release, the city will also assess motor vehicle and real estate taxes in two installments, one bill sent in July and the other in December.
