July 02--Painting masterworks by Jackson Pollock, Vincent Van Gogh, Andy Warhol, Frida Kahlo and many more are back in Buffalo for the summer.

More than 70 of the gallery's historic works -- which Chief Curator Emeritus Douglas Dreishpoon, who organized the show with Curator Cathleen Chaffee calls "the greatest hits" -- have been packaged for a tour. It's titled "Sincerely Yours: Treasures of the Queen City." To celebrate, the museum is offering free entrance from 4 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, when the show opens.

There will be live music, food trucks -- and a new, second summer entrance off Elmwood Avenue, where tables and chairs have been set up on the portico for dining from the museum's AK Cafe.

"Seeing the exhibition is like walking into the art history textbook you have known and loved for years and years," said Gerald Meade, a local art collector on hand at the gallery for today's announcement.

The exhibition opened at the Denver Museum of Art, where it was seen by more than 80,000 people to glowing reviews. It will be here until Sept. 14, before moving on to the San Diego Museum of Art, the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Bentonville, Ark., and the Milwaukee Art Museum.
