RADIO Plants: From Roots to Riches Radio 4, 1.45pm

Throughout the week, Professor Kathy Willis, head of science at the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew, explores our attitude to plants since the birth of botany. Today we learn about the extraordinary influence of Sir Joseph Banks, who envisioned a worldwide network of botanical gardens with Kew at its hub gathering together a vast collection of plants. We also learn how the Banksian Herbarium inspired the establishment of the Natural History Museum. Stephanie Billen
