July 18--The Dark Knight, better known as the superhero Batman, will soon get a special salute in Pauls Valley for his birthday.

It's birthday number 75 for the comic book and now movie character as the local Toy and Action Figure Museum is setting aside a day just for Batman.

That salute at the museum in downtown PV is set for all day Saturday, July 26.

Museum Director Jodi Wood said last year the big honor went to the Superman character. Now it's Batman taking the museum's center stage to celebrate three quarters of a century for the Caped Crusader.

"We celebrating Batman's 75th anniversary," Wood said, adding the public is invited to attend a little gathering to salute the character.

"We did it for Superman last year. We had a lot of people dress up as Superman or Supergirl," she said.

"I think it's only right we do it for Batman.

"It's just a celebration of a superhero."

Anyone showing up on that Saturday dressed as any character in the Batman saga, and that includes Batman villains, will get free admission into the museum, which is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

"Dress up as any Batman character," Wood said. "It doesn't necessarily have to be Batman.

"I would like to see any of the characters; a whole range of characters and see what comes in."

During the day museum staff will be handing out Batman "goodies" while supplies last.

Anyone coming to the museum on that day will also be able to sign up for a chance at a basket giveaway.

They just need to register when coming to the museum during the morning and early afternoon hours.

"The basket is full of Batman stuff and toy museum related items

The drawing itself is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Participants must be present to win the free basket.

As a reminder to the public Wood added the museum is still offering its summer arts and reading program.

The Toy and Action Figure Museum in downtown PV will hold its summer arts and reading program at 11 a.m. each Tuesday in July.

Children and a parent will get free admission into the museum as the program will continue at 11 a.m. each of the last two Tuesdays in July.
