United States : IBM unveils ELASTIC STORAGE ON CLOUD

July 17, 2014

IBM is unveiling a new software defined storage-as-a-service on IBM SoftLayer, dubbed as Elastic Storage on Cloud, that provides organizations with access to a 100%-supported, ready-to-run storage environment, including SoftLayer bare metal resources and high performance data management and enables establishments to move data between their on-premise infrastructure and the cloud.

The company has optimized Elastic Storage on Cloud for technical computing and analytics workloads, delivering more storage capability in a more cost-efficient manner.

Organizations will now be able to easily fulfill sudden surges in storage demands without having to acquire or manage in-house infrastructure.

This new service will also allow clients running high performance analytics to fast and easily deploy their applications on 100% supported ready-to-run clusters complete with Elastic Storage, IBM Platform LSF or Platform Symphony workload management software and SoftLayer's bare-metal infrastructure, which will enable them to expand or reduce not only storage but also compute capacity endlessly and safely to match user and infrastructure needs.
