Researchers from Addis Ababa University Detail New Studies and Findings in the Area of Low Dimensional Structures (Electron scattering in graphene by impurities with electric and magnetic dipole moments)

By a News Reporter-Staff News Editor at Physics Week -- Research findings on Low Dimensional Structures are discussed in a new report. According to news reporting originating from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, by VerticalNews correspondents, research stated, "The elastic electron scattering by impurities with electric and magnetic dipoles in graphene is studied with the help of Born approximation. Both types of scatterers give the nonzero cross section of backscattering."

Our news editors obtained a quote from the research from Addis Ababa University, "The scattering by the impurities with electric dipoles is more efficient even comparing to the scattering by the nanomagnets with anomalous magnetic moments. A comparison of the electron scattering transport cross sections by charged impurities and impurities with electric dipole moments shows that they can be comparable."

According to the news editors, the research concluded: "The scattering by the impurities electric dipoles can be important in limiting the electron mobility in graphene along with the Coulomb scattering."
