Brazil : CHINA CNR bags order of 10 EMU

China CNR Corp Ltd has secured an order for 10 electric multiple-unit (EMU) trains from Brazil.

China CNR has won orders of 100 EMU trains and 34 subway trains from Rio de Janeiro alone. CNR Changchun Railway Vehicles Co will provide new product. The product features 4 carriages and will be able to travel at up to 100 kilometers per hour.

The EMU train will be utilized on the line between the 2016 Olympic Village and the Copacabana center in Rio de Janeiro. An EMU train will be able to carry up to 1,300 people that will help to ease traffic jams. Trains are supplied with a single air conditioning unit that enables the train to run in temperatures as high as 56 degrees Celsius.

Brazil desires to bolster its economy through sport and turned to the World Bank to help finance a $12 billion effort to prepare for the just concluded World Cup and the 2016 Olympic Games.
