Sinema Votes to Maintain Funding for Vital Arizona Transportation Investments and Jobs

July 15, 2014

WASHINGTON, July 15 -- Rep. Kyrsten Sinema, D-Ariz. (9th CD), issued the following news release:

Today Congresswoman Kyrsten Sinema joined a bipartisan majority of her colleagues in passing H.R. 5021, the Highway and Transportation Funding Act. This legislation extends federal highway transit and road safety programs through May 31, 2015 and prevents a critical shortfall in the Highway Trust Fund. After the vote, Sinema underscored the importance of transportation infrastructure investments to Arizona's economy:

"Improving, expanding, and maintaining Arizona's transportation infrastructure is absolutely vital to economic growth. Smart investments, like widening I-10 South of Pecos Road and building Highway 303, will create hundreds of jobs and opportunities for expanded commercial activity in our state.

"I will continue to work to find long term, bipartisan solutions to ensure that Arizona's infrastructure gives us the edge we need to compete in the global economy and create good high-paying jobs for years to come."
