Macquarie appoints David McShane as Senior Managing Director and Head
of Equity Capital Markets for the US
Macquarie also hires John Kent as Managing Director in ECM
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
Macquarie Capital, the corporate advisory and capital markets arm of
Macquarie Group (“Macquarie”) (ASX: MQG; ADR: MQBKY), today announced
that David McShane will join as a Senior Managing Director and US Head
of Equity Capital Markets. Mr. McShane will join Macquarie from Bank of
America Merrill Lynch, where he served as Managing Director and Head of
US Energy and Power Equity Capital Markets.
Mr. McShane will bring deep equity capital markets expertise to
Macquarie. He joined Merrill Lynch in 2006, having previously worked in
equity capital markets at Lehman Brothers. Since joining Bank of America
Merrill Lynch, Mr. McShane has executed close to 300 bookrun
transactions raising a total of $136 billion.
Mr. McShane has led many successful and noteworthy IPO and equity
offerings in the Power and Utility space during the past 10 years,
including: the $1.4 billion IPO of American Water Works, the $495
million IPO of NRG Yield, the $467 million IPO of NextEra Energy
Partners, the $399 million follow-on offering for Range Resources, the
$3.6 billion combined equity follow-on and mandatory convertible
offering for PPL Corporation’s acquisition of E.ON US LLC, and the $3.5
billion combined equity follow-on and mandatory convertible offering for
Apache Corp’s $7 billion acquisition of assets from BP.

In addition, John Kent has joined Macquarie Capital as a Managing
Director, where he focuses on ECM origination efforts in the US. Mr.
Kent has more than 15 years of ECM origination experience and joins from
LCT Capital LLC. Mr. Kent previously held a number of ECM-focused roles
including Managing Director, Equity Capital Markets at Nomura Securities
from 2010 to 2012, and at UBS Investment Bank, where he started his
career in 1999. Some of the transactions in which Mr. Kent has been
involved include the IPOs of Orbitz, VMware, MetroPCS, and Manchester
United; and follow-on offerings for Michael Kors, MSCI, and Genpact.
At Macquarie, Mr. McShane and Mr. Kent will report to Stephen Mehos,
Senior Managing Director and Head of US Financing Products for Macquarie
Capital. “The addition of David and John to our team further enhances

Mr. McShane received his M.B.A. from New York University and a B.S. from
Mr. Kent received his M.B.A. from the University of Virginia and a B.A.
from the University of New Hampshire.
