July 16--TOWN OF FULTON -- The town on Wednesday revoked the liquor license of Shipwreck Cove, LLC., 723 E. Ellendale Road, Edgerton, because owners failed to pay delinquent tax bills.

The establishment owes $10,528 in 2013 real estate taxes and $1,013.27 in personal property taxes, according to the complaint filed by Rock County Clerk Connie Zimmerman. Shipwreck Cove owner Michael J. Barkes bounced checks with the town of Milton and Rock County Treasurer for the bills, the complaint stated.

Barkes faces check fees and a non-sufficient funds citation for the bounced checks. He was summoned to Wednesday's meeting but did not appear, Zimmerman said.

Shipwreck Cove property owner Ryan Skinner said he has posted an eviction notice at the establishment. Barkes has owned Shipwreck Cove for two months, Skinner said.

This incident marks the first time a bar hasn't paid its bills in the town of Fulton since at least 2006, Zimmerman said.
