ENP Newswire - 16 July 2014

Release date- 08072014 - Paris - Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext Paris and NYSE: ALU) announced today that TMC, a global, integrated media company, has awarded CloudBand a 2014 INTERNET TELEPHONY NFV Pioneer Award and a 2014 Cloud Computing Excellence Award.

Selected by TMC, the 2014 INTERNET TELEPHONY NFV Pioneer Award recognizes vendors that are addressing the growing market for technology that forms the building blocks of today's network virtualization, and who consistently demonstrate the advancement of NFV technologies. The Cloud Computing Excellence Award, presented by TMC's Cloud Computing Magazine, recognizes companies that have most effectively leveraged cloud computing in their efforts to bring new, differentiated offerings to market.

To achieve NFV and cloud computing goals, service providers need an NFV platform optimized to run carrier applications and automate operational processes across a highly distributed cloud infrastructure. The CloudBand NFV Platform, now in its second generation, is designed to meet these goals. It provides an open model that assures direct access to OpenStack, while providing the added value of smart placement of applications and services, policy control, and network enabled lifecycle management. CloudBand is built as a distributed model, aggregating numerous NFV points-of-presence into a single coherent distributed and centrally managed cloud environment.

Alcatel-Lucent has committed to the evolution of the network for cloud environments with the broadest and most comprehensive NFV portfolio and an open multi-vendor approach. CloudBand has gained significant traction with operators worldwide, through active projects with 17 providers including NTT Labs, NTT DOCOMO, Telefonica, China Mobile, and DT. CloudBand is the first NFV platform designed from the start for carrier applications, and is fully integrated with Alcatel-Lucent vitualized products vIMS, vEPC, vRAN, and with Nuage Networks, the Alcatel-Lucent venture focused on SDN solutions. CloudBand works with all Alcatel-Lucent virtualized products, and can also work with other vendors NFV solutions. To encourage the industry progression of NFV and a wide variety of NFV solutions compatible with the CloudBand NFV platform, Alcatel-Lucent facilitates an active NFV ecosystem. The CloudBand Ecosystem Program, is the largest global community of vendors, technology providers, and service providers working to advance NFV implementation. The growing CloudBand Ecosystem now includes 41 member companies who have come together to develop NFV use cases and customer trials.

'Congratulations to Alcatel-Lucent for receiving a 2014 INTERNET TELEPHONY NFV Pioneer Award,' said Rich Tehrani, CEO, TMC. 'CloudBand has demonstrated true innovation and is leading the way for Network Functions Virtualization and is recognized as a leader in the advancement of cloud computing.
