School of Rock Unites with Love Hope Strength Foundation for Summer Music Festival Season

BURR RIDGE, Ill.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Launching in 2006, School of Rock, the leading performance-based music education franchise, is amping up to kick off its distinguished AllStar program. Every year, each school holds a local AllStar audition where the most talented aspiring students are chosen to participate in a nationwide audition process in front of a national panel of judges. Acclaimed as some of the best young musicians in the world, the top 1.5 percent of School of Rock’s 17,000 students are chosen for this prestigious honor and deemed this year’s AllStars.

Every summer, the AllStars embark on a tour complete with tour busses and multiple live shows throughout the country. Over the past eight years, the students have performed at world-renowned festivals including Red Rocks, Lollapalooza, Hangout Music Fest, NAMM, Gathering of the Vibes, Austin City Limits, BB Kings and countless others. They’ve also shared the stage with major rockers like Alice Cooper, Peter Frampton, Eddie Vedder, and Slash, just to name a few.

“Our AllStar program allows young musicians to get a taste of what a professional music career is like,” said Dzana Homan, CEO of School of Rock. “Their performances are awe-inspiring showcases of talent and skill; the 2014 AllStars truly are the best in class out of 17,000 School of Rock students.”

For the third consecutive year, School of Rock is partnering with the Love Hope Strength Foundation (LHSF) – an international, music-centric cancer charity dedicated to saving lives, one concert at a time – in support of their mission to fight cancer. At Lollapalooza and Gathering of the Vibes, AllStars will be collecting saliva samples from festival-goers, which are added to international bone marrow databases in the hopes of making a match and saving a life. So far, these efforts have resulted in over 500 submissions, and eight matches from the festivals.

“Partnering with such a unique, passionate organization makes the AllStar program that much more life changing and significant for both our students and the thousands that are impacted by the cause,” added Homan. “Being able to give back through music is extraordinary, and it’s one of the aspects the School of Rock community looks forward to most each tour season.”

School of Rock offers lessons in guitar, bass, keyboard, drums and vocals, and genres of music include, Rock, Reggae, Motown, Blues, Pop, and Metal. The schools offer individual lessons and performance classes, summer camps and workshops. In addition to individual private music instruction, students also learn how to jam with their peers in a weekly practice session. The team dynamic creates a supportive and motivating environment where kids feel inspired to excel and, eventually, perform together as a rock band in front of live audiences.
