LINCOLN, Neb., July 14 -- The University of Nebraska-Lincoln issued the following news release:

The University of Nebraska State Museum's next Sunday with a Scientist program for children and families will explore scientific illustration. The event will be 1:30-4:40 p.m.July 20 at Morrill Hall, south of 14th and Vine streets on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln City Campus.

Hands-on activities will include working with microscopes to examine specimens and drawing what is seen, group mural making, sketching and recording information in field journals like real paleontologists do. Visitors will also have the opportunity to visit the "Mark Marcuson: An Artist's Journey" exhibit that presents Marcuson's life as an artist and his career as a scientific illustrator mastering watercolor, acrylic, oil, pencil, and pen and ink among others. Children and families can participate in a museum-wide scavenger hunt to find other examples of scientific illustration throughout Morrill Hall.
