Dollar in upper 101 yen zone in early Tokyo deals

July 15, 2014

The U.S. dollar traded in the upper 101 yen zone early Wednesday in Tokyo, little changed from its levels the previous day in New York.

At 9 a.m., the dollar changed hands at 101.64-72 yen compared with 101.63-73 yen in New York and 101.56-58 yen in Tokyo at 5 p.m. Tuesday.

The euro was quoted at $1.3570-3571 and 137.98-99 yen against $1.3563-3573 and 137.93-138.03 yen in New York and $1.3618-3620 and 138.31-35 yen in Tokyo late Tuesday afternoon.

In New York on Tuesday, the yen's move against the dollar was limited. The closely watched testimony of U.S. Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen to the Congress on monetary policy the same day did not have a huge impact on currency rates, a market player said.
