July 15--COLUMBIA, S.C. -- A Greenville man has received a sentence of 8 years in prison for possession of child pornography, officials say.

Christopher E. Miller, age 26, was sentenced to 8 years in prison and five years of supervised release in federal court Tuesday, according to a statement released by U.S. Attorney Bill Nettles.

Law enforcement officers received information that someone located in Greenville was using computer software to download child pornography from the Internet.

Law enforcement officers were able to trace the IP address used for the downloads to Miller's home, Nettles said.

FBI agents then executed a search warrant at Miller's home where they seized computers containing hundreds of still images and videos of minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct.

The case was part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative led by United States Attorneys Offices and designed to protect children from online exploitation and abuse, Nettles said.
