Silk Road Arts Festival to take place in Issyk-Kul region

The Silk Road Arts Festival will be held in Bishkek, Balykchi, Cholpon-Ata, Karakol, Bokonbayevo from July 27 to August 7, organizers say.

The main goal is to organize cultural caravan around Lake Issyk-Kul to interact with local community members, to promote fine and applied arts, ethnic music, national games during tourist season.

The task of the festival is to strengthen internal and external cultural ties, to introduce young talents in the capital city and regions, to deliver master classes for children and youth, to screen films about small ethnic groups and their rights in culture; to popularize festival events in other parts of Kyrgyzstan and Central Asia.

Festival Program

July 27-28 Bishkek, Kurmanzhan Datka Square, Oak Park

July 29-30 Balychhi Community Center

July 31 August 2 Local History Museum of Cholpon-Ata

August 3-5 Yurt Camp Happy Nomads, Karakol

August 6-7 Bashat M Guest House, Bokonbayevo

"Each point of the Festival Program includes a very important element of cultural communication traditional food, games, contests. This will help draw together guests of the Festival," the organizers say.

The Festival is organized by the Central Asian Network for Arts and Culture.
