House Internet Tax Moratorium Bill a Key Vote for Tech Industry, ITI Urges Support

WASHINGTON, July 14 -- The Information Technology Industry Council issued the following news release:

Today the Information Technology Industry Council (ITI) called on Members of Congress to support the Permanent Internet Tax Freedom Act (H.R. 3086), legislation being brought up for a vote on Tuesday in the U.S. House of Representatives to permanently extend the moratorium on Internet access taxes. In a letter to addressed to Speaker of the House John Boehner, Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi, and their parties' respective representatives, ITI President and CEO Dean Garfield said "Given the importance of this issue to the high-tech community, we will consider scoring votes in support of final passage of the Permanent Internet Tax Freedom Act in our 113th Congressional Voting Guide."

ITI supports a permanent extension of the Internet tax moratorium because it will help provide certainty for consumers and businesses and enable them to invest in advanced internet broadband services and new technologies in the coming years.
