BRIEF: Commission agrees to buy to police vehicles, tractors

July 14--WARRENSBURG -- The Johnson County Commission approved agreements with U.S. Bank for the lease-purchase of three new police vehicles for the Sheriff's Office and two tractors with mowers for the Road and Bridge Department.

U.S. Bank delivered the best of three bids submitted for the contract with an interest rate of 1.69 percent.

The three police vehicles are Ford interceptor SUVs purchased on a state bid for $77,094. The agreement calls for payments of $39,257 to be made in February 2015 and February 2016.

The county will make the final payment of about $49,000 this year on the sheriff's vehicles purchased three years ago, County Clerk Diane Thompson said.

The two John Deere tractors with Murphy mowers cost $253,423.

The county will make the first payment of $51,616.78 in August and will make two payments of $51,616.78 each in 2015 and 2016.
