Arun Jaitley, the Minister of Finance, Government of India, has proposed a basic customs duty of 10 per cent on specified telecommunication products outside the purview of the Information

Technology Agreement in his Budget 2014-2015 presented on 10 Jul 2014. The government's move is aimed at boosting domestic production of electronics goods. All inputs/components used in the manufacture of personal computers will be exempt from four percent special additional duty and an education cess will be imposed on imported electronic products to provide parity between domestically produced goods and imported goods.
