July 11--TWIN FALLS -- The 23rd annual Kids Art In the Park is from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, with a $3 hot dog lunch served from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Kids Art In the Park is a visual and performing arts workshop for children ages 3 to 14. The youngsters will get to participate in workshops and create bubble art, tissue paper mosaics and solarprint photographs, and they can play theater games and a variety of band instruments. For a $2 registration fee, participants are provided with materials and instruction. Registration the day of the event costs $5.

Pre-schoolers, ages 3 to 5, can participate in workshops developed for their age and motor skills. Each child must be accompanied by an adult. Dress your child for a mess and choose from three 45-minute sessions.

"It's a lot of fun. Each of the classes is designed to fit the age group," said Carolyn White, program director at Magic Valley Arts Council.

About 300 children typically participate in Kids Art in the Park each year. Last year, a record 368 children participated.

"This year, we hope to make that number or exceed it," White said. "We had a huge growth in kids in kindergarten through second grade. I think that was a reflection of the growth in our community."

Also in Twin Falls City Park this weekend, the Art Guild of Magic Valley's 55th annual Art in the Park will be from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. The Twin Falls Rotary's Ice Cream Funday will be from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event is $6 for adults and $4 for children 11 and younger.

Registration to Kids Art in the Park includes a $1 off coupon for the Ice Cream Funday.
