BRIEF: Ranel Family hosts 16th annual gospel concert

July 11, 2014

Times-Herald, Vallejo, Calif.

July 11--Each year, the concert features different health issues with proceeds donated to featured organizations. This year's event benefits the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation.

The fundraiser includes the Dynamic Music of 1 A Cord, Kyles Temple Choir, the Randle Family, Restoration Church of Sacramento, and pianist Milan Brown from Baltimore.

A representative from the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation will speak.

The Randle Family started the annual event in 1991 when 12-year-old Janeen Johnson died from leukemia. After losing more family members to various illnesses, the family decided to host a gospel and health benefit in honor of Janeen and others, said Eileen Randle.

In addition to the annual gospel concert, the family hosts a quarterly blood drive in association with Second Baptist Church of Vallejo.

"We've lost so many people to different illnesses and diseases," Randle said. "We realized that it's not just us, it's happening to all of us."

Randle said the 3 to 5:30 p.m event should attract around 250 supporters.

There is no admission charge, but donations will be accepted, Randle said. For more information, call (707) 315-1900.
